The public doors. Apps, notes, status, and the longer pages.

Spore

One shell for the apps

Each product keeps its own colours and type. The shared shell is Spore. When we publish a new one, apps that follow latest pick it up without a rebuild. This page keeps its own layer on top, so a new shell cannot take the homepage down.

Approach

How we build

  1. Small surface

We leave out anything that does not help someone get on with it.

  2. No theatre

We ship it, then we learn from people using it. Not from a deck.

  3. Concept to container

From the first sketch to something you can open in a browser.

Marks

Five colours, one line

Tidalux Ltd is a UK company. We are based here, and we work in the UK and Ireland. These five colours are the places behind the names, the mail, and the servers.

  • Switzerland

The public names, with Liechtenstein beside them: .ch and .li. Tidalux keeps its own mail and private files in Switzerland.

  • United Kingdom

Home. The company is registered here, we are based here, and we work here. Ordinary client websites live in a hall just outside London.

  • Ireland

Home ground as well. A base, and where our .ie names belong.

  • Moldova

    A base.

  • European Union

A base. The main cloud is in Gravelines, on the north coast of France, close enough to Britain that the hop is small. CAOD's own mail is kept in Germany.

Studio

Tidalux Ltd

CAOD is the Compute, Apps, Operations and Delivery infrastructure for Tidalux, Tidalux Labs, and the rest of the studio. Apps, writing, projects, client sites, and the delivery network.

The company is British: registered in the UK, based here, and we work here. The public names are Swiss and Liechtenstein, .ch and .li. We like .ch because it is short, the holder stays off the public register, and the name servers are anycast, so the lookup is quick from the middle of Europe. That is the privacy and the speed we want under the products.

We design and run these things for ourselves first, because we needed them, and for clients who would rather the work felt calm than loud.
